We are in the ‘AGE OF EXCELLENCE’, as businesses everything we say and do matters. Customers expect excellent service. With competition just around the corner, we need to do everything we can to create loyal customers. So how do we do that? Try the following six things:
1. BUILD RAPPORT:
Take the time to ask questions about your customer, and find out what their needs are. Customers need to know you, like you and trust you before they will buy from you. Asking questions and building rapport is the best way to build trust.
2. BE A RESOURCE:
When we contact a customer, too often we are trying to get something from them. Instead, ‘be of service to them’. How can you add value to their business? What can you do for them or give them that they would appreciate?
3. GIVE REFERRALS:
Refer their business to others. Help them succeed in their business by being genuinely interested and caring in helping them succeed.
4. MAKE THEM VIPS:
Invite them to special events where they can feel ‘special’ and ‘valued’. Hockey Games, Network events, Courses or Training Seminars that you think they would appreciate attending.
5. FOLLOW UP WITH A THANK YOU:
Always follow up with an email, thanking them for the opportunity. That you are looking forward to servicing them further. Write a thank you card that has genuine appreciation and thought behind it.
6. CALL THEM BEFORE THEY CALL YOU:
If there is a problem or an issue, make sure you are proactive in responding to them before they call you. Being accountable for the issue will go miles in building trust, respect, and loyalty.
7. CONTACT THEM REGULARLY:
Check up on your clients regularly. If you don’t have CRM – Customer Relations Management Software – get it! You’ll be glad you did. Contacting clients regularly shows initiative and concern. And again it shows that you are ‘giving’ not ‘taking’, that you are ‘on top of their business’ and yours!
Keeping the customers you have is a lot easier than trying to find new customers. And a loyal customer… is absolutely priceless!
